Treating stretch marks
What causes stretch marks?
Stretch marks originate from skin’s elastic fibres tear, usually due to extreme tension. Rapid changes in weight, pregnancy, muscle gain and growth spurts are some factors that lead to the appearance of stretch marks.
What is the best treatment for stretch marks?
Unfortunately, most of creams and natural products on the market are not proven effectives. Dermatologists and cosmetic doctors cannot promise that stretch marks will disappear forever. The goal is improvement.
There are various options and combinations of treatments. The Doctors will determine which will suit you best.
Combinations to stimulate your own collagen
Our first goal is to stimulate blood circulation and collagen formation of the entire area to improve the overall quality of the skin.
For low-grade stretch marks, we suggest 4-6 Dermapen® sessions. For more extreme cases or to maximize results, it will be combined with the PRP (platelet rich plasma) protocol.
Dr. Lafond and Dr. Mandeville administer all treatments.
How can I prevent stretch marks?
Although there is no consensus on prevention, here are some general recommendations:
- Stay hydrated and eat well
- Use a moisturizing cream and sunscreen
- Avoid rapid gain or loss of weight
- Walk or practice sports
